Asking Doctor Who fans...

It seems that there is an annual Doctor Who convention in Los Angeles:

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it cool? Interesting? A waste of time?

It's about a 15 minute drive from my home.

Okay, here's the thing. You see, I'm a huge Torchwood fan, but I haven't actually really watched Doctor Who. *hangs head in shame* Oh, it's on my Netflix list (and I should probably move it to the top if I decide to go this convention). But I'm not well versed in the show.

However... Gareth David-Lloyd (yum) and Kai Owen (awwww) from Torchwood are supposedly confirmed guests at this thing. Hmmm... it seems intriguing...

Any thoughts?

Well, if it's only 15 mins away, go for it!

I'm going to my first ever sci-fi convention next month, and I'm a wee bit scared. But I imagine fannish types will be enthusiastically welcoming. Tell them you only just got into Torchwood, and no doubt they will be falling over themselves to rec you stuff. :D

Personally, apart from the LHC episode on Radio 4, I've never seen Torchwood!

Goforit, goforit, GOFURRIT!

That sounds fantastic. I predict you'll have a blast. XD

(I went to my first SF con 2 years ago, on a similar basis - "Ooh, Babylon 5 a few miles down the road!" - and had an absolute whale of a time. Folk were incredibly welcoming, and I can't see this being any different. Plus, the chance to be in a whole building of the like-minded and enthusiastically discuss the nitty-gritty of Torchwood, etc. without people's eyes glazing over is not to be sneezed at in the least. ;-)

So...are you going to put a costume together? ;-D
