LAST does leave off in an awkward place, doesn't it? I know it was written during the War, as a sort of inspiration I suppose. I guess that symbollically its also the end of one era (Holmes and Watson in the late-Victorian/Edwardian age) and the beginning of another era (the modern era). They are sort of balanced on that edge.
But I refuse to accept that they weren't worried about each other, completing each other, loving each other, and scared to death about the other. They were too close fo too long. Why yes, I am fascinated by late-era H/W.
I have an idea for Mrs. Watson (no fears). I actually feel a bit bad for her (and I'm sure that Watson would feel quite a bit guilty).
Yeah, and I learned about "Altamont" origin while looking up info for this fic. Pretty interesting, huh?
