I also think that Snape is somehow going to sacrifice himself for Harry and that action will be his redemption, so to speak. I agree with you that it is a definite possibility.

I think that Snape's choice will be hard for him -- but I also think that he will end up doing what is "right" over what is "easy" in the end.
