I think it has to do with seeing his vulnerability, which is totally underneath that granite exterior (and TG definitely allows it to break through from time to time in his acting, which is just gorgeous and swoon-worthy). I think there's also a bit of that with the idea of bottom!Hotch too, since it would require quite a bit of trust to allow himself to be that open with another man (at least according to my interpretation of him). And that trust level also shows vulnerability.
Oh, and I'm so glad you liked my monkey in love with Rossi line because, seriously, it's like one of my favorite things that I threw into the fic.
