I didn't mean anything disparaging by that remark, btw. I think that Hotch, even a bi-curious Hotch, would at least consider the impact of his relationships on Jack. Especially since he is likely carrying a boat load of guilt over Haley (and Jack). I can see him wondering how any relationship he has would affect his son. Also, for all the open-mindedness that CM shows concerning homosexuality and the team's reaction to it, Hotch and Reid are still in the FBI and law enforcement has a reputation for being a bit homophobic. I think these would be issues that Hotch would consider.
